Cupping & Acupuncture

Cupping and acupuncture are both traditional therapies used for pain and muscle tension. Acupuncture uses thin needles inserted into the skin to stimulate energy flow and the nervous system. Cupping uses suction from glass or silicone cups to pull up the skin and boost blood flow. Both are often combined in one session. Cupping is one of the treatment methods in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). It is a kind of therapy by placing vacuum jars on the skin surface, and moving the jar following the meridians of the body. This draws up the underlying tissues.

It can help draw out the toxins inside the body, promoting the free energy flow and improve lymphatic circulation. When the cup is left on the skin few a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localised healing takes place. It also has a similar effect to deep tissue massage. Scientific research indicates that Cupping could effect the body up to 4 inches into the tissue, which helps blood circulation and causes tissues to release toxins, activates the lymphatic system, and clears colon blockages.

It is a kind of therapy by placing vacuum jars on the skin surface, and moving the jar following the meridians of the body. We provide Fire Cupping, Dry Cupping & Plastic Cupping Acupuncture. Cupping treatment often practiced alongside acupuncture but can also be a ‘stand-alone’ treatment.

The technique involves creating a vacuum inside round glass or bamboo cups by inserting a naked flame and removing it, then placing the cup quickly onto the area to be treated before the vacuum is lost. The cups are then left in place for anything up to 20 minutes. If large areas of the body need treatment, a technique known as ‘sliding cups’ is used. A thin layer of massage oil is spread over the skin; the cups are placed onto the body in the normal way and then slid along the muscles being treated. This helps the blood and qi to flow more easily in stagnated areas.
